Description
A Parade of Horribles by Matt Dinniman is the eighth installment in the wildly popular Dungeon Crawler Carl science fiction series. Carl and his diva cat, Princess Donut, have reached the dungeon’s tenth floor, where the deadly game disguises itself as something almost mundane: a string of races, each finish earning a vehicle upgrade while every track grows more punishing. But the unsettling normalcy hides glitches in the system and dark whispers about an eleventh floor the AI has ominously named “A Parade of Horribles.” Refusing to let the floor strip away his agency, Carl begins plotting a gambit so reckless he cannot risk telling even his own friends, because the stakes have never been higher.

Why We Think It Should Be Your Next Book
Few series balance slapstick comedy with genuine emotional weight the way Dungeon Crawler Carl does, and book eight shows Matt Dinniman at the height of his powers. It is the rare blockbuster that is as funny as it is tense, populated by characters readers have grown to love over thousands of pages. If you are already eight floors deep, this is an unmissable step toward the endgame; if you are new to the dungeon, one of the most addictive reading experiences in modern science fiction is still ahead of you.
